AG WORLD
Providing a vision for a better future.
Agriculture Career Orientation and Mentoring Program
AG WORLD is designed to introduce 7th & 8th graders to the wide world of agriculture-
related career fields beyond low-wage jobs in crop and livestock production, and food
processing.
AG WORLD seeks to increase awareness of agricultural-industry career opportunities
across a broad spectrum of fields, getting kids interested in jobs they didn’t know were
available that will motivate them to do well in school and graduate with options for further
education and better career choices.

Successful diversity speakers give participants an expanded vision of possible future
career paths. Speakers tell the story of their paths to success, including the challenges
and strategies they used along the way.
Students signing up for AG WORLD will hear talks by successful adult role models,
participate in hands-on activities related to agriculture industry career fields, and take
field trips to learn about “real-world” area businesses. Life skills training and college
mentors provide support for success. Tutor to the Top is available for academic
assistance.
Except for Speakers’ Talks at participating schools, the program takes place outside of
school hours on Saturdays at RCACC and other facilities.
RCACC sponsors AG WORLD in partnership with the University of Mount Olive.
How to Participate
AG WORLD does not require a specific grade average and is open to middle
school students. Students must be from Wayne or Duplin County. If a student is
interested she/he may self-nominate and teachers may nominate students. All
participants must have parent permission.
